During the recent trip to Langkawi, we stayed for one night at AB Motel in the famous Pantai Cenang area. Finding food was not a problem at all.
There were a lot restaurants on both sides of Pantai Cenang road -- typical Malay food, Thai food, Indian food, Chinese food, Western food, fresh seafood, and so much more! It's up to your pick.
Starving Couple Looking For Food In Pantai Cenang
On the afternoon of the first day, we hungrily searched for a restaurant after visiting the Underwater World. We just realised that we hadn't take our lunch yet. So, we drove along Pantai Cenang road and looked for restaurants which were pack with people. A full-house restaurant means the food are good (according to our own experience..) But, silly us!
Restoran Haji Ramli @ Pantai Cenang, Langkawi
It was 5.30pm and nobody was having lunch or dinner at such hour. So....most of the eateries were empty! But, we noticed that there were a few people eating at Restoran Haji Ramli, about 300 metres away from AB Motel. The eatery is located near to the Casa Del Mar hotel.
Delicious Southern Thai Malay Seafood
Restoran Haji Ramli specialises in southern Thai Malay seafood as well as Malaysian favourites -- so Thai that most of the staff communicate in Thai. But don't worry, they still can speak English quite well.
The starving Zaly and me instantly order these dishes:
- Nasi Padprik (for Zaly)
- Fried Rice with Red Beef (for me!)
- Tom Yam Soup for two
- Kerabu Sotong (Squid Salad) for two
- Longan Juice
- Carrot Susu (susu is a Malay word for milk -- carrot juice mixed with milk)

Hmmm... delicious! Or... perhaps because we were so hungry that anything tasted so good? We finished our meals in minutes! Ha...ha..ha!

Restoran Haji Ramli in Pantai Cenang is popular with local tourists but others are also welcome. It's a place to experience a new gastronomic adventure, or in layman terms -- to try new food!
While we were eating, there was a couple of foreign tourists walked in and ordered Ikan Bakar (Grilled Fish). They got to choose their own fishes and watched the cook grilled the selected fishes to perfection. Hmmm...
Total cost four our meals was RM27 -- for me it was quite reasonable, but for Zaly it was not. We debated about the price all the way back to the motel....hmmph!
