New Year's Day 2007
As the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 (VMY 2007) kicks-in on this first day of the new year, passengers who catch the first ferry from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis or Satun, Thailand will be in for a pleasant surprise courtesy of the Langkawi Tourism Action Council (LTAC). Souvenirs will be given to all early bird arrivals.

Sauk Sotong (Squid Scooping Challenge) 2007
An exciting evening of squids galore. A traditional annual squid 'harvest' when the seas off Langkawi lights up as fishermen and participants of this competition try to lure as many squids to their nets as possible.

Le Tour de Langkawi 2007
One on the best cycling races outside Europe and the richest in Asia, the 12th Le Tour de Langkawi promises to be an action-packed event that keep cycling fans on the edge. Catch the the action as top international riders traverse spectacular and treacherous terrain from the idyllic island of Langkawi to Dataran Merdeka in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.

Langkawi Ironman Triathlon 2007
The safe and "doable" course for Ironman Langkawi takes competitors through local villages as well as the water front area of Kuah town in which the race is based. The swim is a two-lap 3.8km swim in Kuah Bay, starting and finishing alongside the giant eagle statue that dominates the Jetty Point port area. The bike course is a three laps 180.2km on a basically flat road with the transition to the run being held at Eagle Square. The 42.2km run is over a four-lap course, which is flat and partly shaded. This race is rated as among the toughest in the world!

Kedah Chap Goh Mei Celebration 2007
Chap Goh Mei represents the fifteenth and final day of the Lunar New Year period as celebrated by Chinese communities. The term is from the Hokkien dialect and literally means the fifteenth day of the first month. Activities include the colourful throwing of oranges into the sea by young maidens.
