Tourist Getting Into The Cable Car

We saw a group of 30 tourists escorted by their tourist guides just arrived and excited to get a ride. So, we quickly ran to get into the queue before that flock of tourists forced us to wait. Ha..ha..ha! Kiasu, remember?

Fabulous Scenery From The Cable Car

The cable cars arrive very fast, so actually there is nothing to worry about. The waiting time is minimal. No need to be kiasu.

Each gondola of the cable car can fit up to 6 person. We board the cable car with a couple of Malay tourists and another couple of American tourists. During the ride up, I sat facing the mountain.... so I could see the view of the mountain as we slowly leaving the Oriental Village behind. It was also easier for me to look back and see the astounding view of the sea, beaches and little islands below.

The weather was great and the scenery was simply fabulous and breathtaking! We can also see the famous Telaga Tujuh waterfall and the spectacular rock formation of Mat Cincang mountain. The cable car moved very fast to the top on a 42 degree incline cable. The ride was smooth but a bit bumpy when passing the intersections, which is normal.

Getting Dizzy At The First Viewing Platform

We reached the first viewing station within minutes. If you don't want to stop here, you don't have to get out of the gondola and proceed to the top station. But, I suggest you to stop because the view from the first platform was simply amazing!

Viewing Platform @Mat Cincang Mountain

The first viewing platform is located 652.5 meter above the sea level. And, Zaly didn't seem to get dizzy, yet? I asked him to get near the platform edge where there was sign saying, "You are now at 652.5 meter above sea level" for a picture.

He was reluctant at first. Ahah! It must be the fear of height! After seconds of persuading, he proudly rested his hand on the railing, and I took the priceless picture.

By the way, from the first platform, we could see the suspension bridge just below the first viewing platform of the top station. The sky bridge looked so shiny from far, and intimidating!

Top Viewing Platform @710m Above Sea Level

We quickly get into a cable car to the top station. There are 2 viewing platforms on the top station, with their respective heights at 710m (second platform) and 690m (first platform). From those platforms, especially the second one, you can see spectacular views of the seas and the islands around the main island of Langkawi, as well as the neighbouring Thailand to the north!

Descending The Stairs To The Suspension Bridge

To get to the hanging bridge, we must descended some steep stairs which took about 10 minutes. The stairs were so vertical that I wondered whether I can manage climbing it back to the station. On our way, we met an English couple (in their 60s), rested on their way back to the staion.

"Man, we are so tired!" said, the old man while breathing heavily. I smiled and encouraged them to take their time. Don't push too hard!

The Hanging Bridge On Top Of Mat Cincang Mountain

Finally, we reached the sky bridge and enjoyed the view! I asked Zaly to walk on the bridge to the end but he refused. He was getting a dizzy head, and I didn't force him. Well, what can I do if he fainted in the middle of the bridge? I'm not that strong to lift him back to the top station.

A few people walk to the middle of the bridge, so I joined them. In the middle of the bridge, I turned back because I thought the bridge was swaying. Was I experiencing a Hypsiphobia too? Not wanted to risk myself fainting alone on the bridge, I walked back to Zaly. Ha...ha.. ha!

Breathtaking Scenery On Top Of Mat Cincang Mountain

We climbed the steep stairs back to the top station. And, it was extremely tiring! We stopped a few times before finally reached the first viewing platform. After resting for a couple of minutes, we climbed another set of stairs to the second viewving platform at 710m above the sea level. The views from here were even more breathtaking!

Alas! My 1GB memory card was full! And I didn't bring an extra card. And... we still have a lot of places to cover...Hmmph! I need to buy a new card or simply erase some of the pictures that I've point-and-shot.

After spending about 20 minutes on the top station, we took a cable car back to the Oriental Village. This time, we had the gondola for ourselves. Zaly took the seat facing the mountain as he didn't want to see the cable car descending from the top of the mountain, at a high speed!
