Telaga Tujuh Waterfall

After the joy cable car ride, we drove to the Telaga Tujuh Waterfall. We parked our car at the designated parking space at the based of the hill. We noticed a few shops selling souvienirs and clothings, and also a food stall selling Malay food.

And we were so hungry after the cable car ride! It was time for lunch. We bought two plates of mixed rice which were priced reasonably. The owner didn't take the advantage that his stall was the only one selling food at the based of the Telaga Tujuh waterfall. Thumb up!

Walk Up The Vertical Stairs

After lunch, we proceed to the Telaga Tujuh waterfall. We must walk about 800 metres uphill and the road leading to the top was so steep! I imagined myself walking up the steep road and rolling back down like a ball. Ha..ha..ha.!

There was a smudge sigboard saying that the walk up to the Telaga Tujuh waterfall will take 20 minutes. Hmmph!

Luckily, there were stairs available on the right side of the road. And, of course they were vertical! Almost identical to the stairs leading from the sky bridge to the cable car top station. Another exercise for our muscles.

Nevertheless, we didn't fancy hiking all the way up and stopped at 400 metres. We made a detour through a concrete walkway that took us to the first tier of the Telaga Tujuh waterfall. It is a great place for a cool dip!

The Telaga Tujuh is still another 400 metres up the hill!

Along the way back through the forest to the waterfall, we bumped into some macaque monkeys resting on the stairs. The monkeys were having fun with each other. And, some were so menace and snatched some plastic bags containing food from the hand of a women and a kid. Bad monkeys!

After rejuvenating ourselves at the first waterfall, we decided not to proceed to the top. We were exhausted and anyway, we didn't bring extra cloth and towel to bath at the waterfall. Zaly said, next time we must spend half a day at Telaga Tujuh and enjoy the waterfall. Especially after the strenuous walk of 800 metres up the hill!

The Oldest Natural Attraction

Telaga Tujuh, which is part of the Gunung Machinchang Forest Reserve (mainly comprising dipterocarp forests), is probably among the oldest natural and free attractions in Langkawi.

Telaga Tujuh has ample parking area, shops selling souvenirs, food stalls, musalla (Muslim prayer rooms), toilet facilities (one at the bottom, one on the way up and one at the top).

But, to enjoy the refreshing dip at the waterfall, you'll need to take a long flight of 638 concrete steps inclines at about 45 to 60º lead all the way to the top, where there is a wooden lookout tower and several shelters.
