Langkawi Honeymoon.

I am traveling to langkawi on my honeymoon in late feb early march 08 for a period of 6 days. i had a few questions about the place...
1: What is the weather like and is it crowded?
Weather in Feb/March 2008 - There will be no heavy rain all day or torrential thunderstorm. Rains usually come and go in just a few hours, normally in the afternoon. Afternoon rain is actually so refreshing.
2: We are deciding between Casa Del Mar and Westin....any suggestions?
Casa del Mar is absolutely cheaper than the high-end hotels such as Tanjung Rhu, the Datai and the Andaman.
It's located at Pantai Cenang - the most popular and liveliest beach in Langkawi. Therefore, finding food and entertainment are not a problem. There are a wide selection of restaurants and pubs within a walking distance nearby. Casa del Mar hotel is a really nice hotel with a beach and surrounding enjoyed by all.
So, the advantage of staying in a hotel at Pantai Cenang is you're within a walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops and pubs. But, the place will be crowded with people (local and foreign tourists) especially during school breaks. There will be a school break from 8 to 16 March 2008.
Westin is located one kilometer from Langkawi main harbour. Get a sea facing room and both of you will enjoy the stunning view. The size of the room is more like a suite and very nice for honeymooners.
3: which route is better by road or train from KL and how long do the two take in terms of time??
Road - This is the best way to enjoy the view along the highway. Usually it will take about 6 hours to reach Kuala Kedah from KL. And, from there take a ferry to Langkawi.
Please note that driving by yourself could be very tiring if you're not used to a long distance driving. Another alternative by road is taking a bus. There are plenty of buses from KL to Langkawi.
Train - Usually there is only a night train service from KL to the nearest train stop Alor Star. From there you need to take taxi or a bus to Kuala Kedah for the ferry. Train will take a longer traveling time.
4: how expensive is the city, as in for a 6 day stay what would be a safe amount to carry (USD) to have fun yet be under a budget?
Langkawi only has one small town. It's a rather cheap island to do some shopping as it has a duty-free status.
But, how much you're gonna spend during your trip is absolutely up to you. USD300-500 is usually a safe amount to carry. If that's not enough, you can always withdraw more from any ATMs in Kuah.
5: which is the most romantic restaurant in langkawi?
The Lighthouse in Pantai Tengah. This is a good place to view and enjoy the sunset while you sip the freshest of cocktails and continue dining to a selection of Mediterranean and Malaysian cuisines
thanks
warm Regards
