Artificially Incubated Penguins

A breeding programme through incubation is being carried out at the Langkawi Underwater World to ensure the survival of the penguins held in captivity.

Some penguins reject their own egg. Penguins sometimes lay two eggs but take more care of the first than the second. Thus, the eggs need to be put in incubators to ensure their survival.

So far, only the Black Footed African penguins have produced offspring. The first penguin chick been hatched from an artificially incubated egg is now 13 days old! And it's growing bigger!
