Langkawi Is Truly
A Great Place To Visit

Hi Ros & Zaly,
My best buddie and I went to Langkawi in Oct 2004.
We had so much fun.... The island has lots of sun, sand and sea.
We manage to cover a few must-see places during the short trip (2 days only - wish it could be longer!)
The first day, after a hearty breakfast, we took a 30-minute drive from Kuah to the Oriental Village which was
located at the foothill of Gunung Mat Cincang.
Yep... the place has many duty free shops but we didn't do any shopping. We headed straight to the
Langkawi cable car station.
Oh wow! The view from the cable car was so stunning... simply gorgeous! We saw the Telaga Tujuh waterfalls,
the sea and the cluster of islands surrounding it. We'd even see
Tarutao Island in Thailand too.
After being turned "green" by the lush forested mountain view, we went to explore the rest of Langkawi.
We dashed to the beaches...well we didn't cover them all.. time too short. Datai Bay Beach, Black Sand Beach,
Tanjung Rhu and other unkown (or not-yet-named) beaches.
We particularly like the Tanjung Rhu Beach... it got lots of casuarina tree along the shoreline, clear waters
and long stretch of powdery sands. We jumped into the water and had a splashing fun!
I think we're lucky cause it's not the rainy season - if not the water would not be that clear
(it's gonna be murky and muddy..)
We agree with you Nadia. Some people were really pissed off when they found that the sea water at the beaches were
not as clear as they imagined (or as it supposed to be). The water would get temporarily murky or muddy due to the rain or
simply because of contructions of new hotels/resorts nearby.
Most of the time, Langkawi's ocean is as blue as the sky, with lots of sun and fun.
The second day, we just touring around Kuah town.
We went to the
Eagle Square (Dataran Lang). This is Langkawi's most prominent landmark where a
giant eagle statue majestically poised for flight.
We spent the rest of the morning exploring
Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall.
We did some shopping at some of the handicrafts stalls. I bought a nice wind chime made of sea shells -
gonna be a nice decor my for garden back home.
In the evening, we were too tired to do any exploring. We just stayed at the hotel and had a splashing fun at the pool.
We did took some nice photos but unfortunately they are not digital. I'd bring my
new Canon digital camera the next time I visit Langkawi.
Anyway, Langkawi is truly a great place to visit.
Till then,
Ros & Zaly
