Cenang Beach Langkawi

After visiting the Underwater World Langkawi, we went back to AB Motel. Then, we had a leisurely walk to the Cenang beach.

From a distance, under the casuarina trees near AB Motel.... the Cenang beach looked so white and pretty. I saw some people swimming in the sea, while others were kayaking under the evening sun. People were seen running on the beach and some were taking pictures of the beautiful scenery.

Get That Perfect Tan @Cenang Beach

A few European tourist were seen sunbathing to get some tan -- perhaps, they envied the locals' perfect tan!

Some local kids were also enjoying the beach by playing football on the white soft sands. Shall we call this game futsand instead of futsal, huh?

Debris On Cenang Beach

But, as I stepped closer to the seashore... I was totally shocked. The Cenang beach, which is the longest in Langkawi and the most popular... was polluted!

The water's edge was full with debris washed out from the sea. Sea shells & natural driftwoods were acceptable but not plastic bottles, cups, twigs, ropes, pieces of cut wood and nails.

Keep Langkawi Clean

I mean, this was so ridiculous. Why the Langkawi Development Authority or Langkawi Tourism didn't do anything to make sure the tourist hotspot ALWAYS clean and beautiful?

I was extremely dissapointed when the liveliest of all Langkawi beaches was polluted during my recent visit. Ok... I have a really high-standard on beaches, you know. Perhaps, it was not really that bad. Otherwise, those people would not be seen enjoying the beach and the sea that evening.

Nevertheless, I love Cenang beach and I believe others love it too. I just hope that the cleanliness of Cenang Beach could be restored soon. Pantai Cenang is one of the main route for the 10km Langkawi Beach Run 2007 which will be held in July 2007.

The Langkawi Beach Run is an annual event organised by the Langkawi Tourism Action Council (LTAC), Elcreationz, LG Symphony and supported by Tourism Malaysia,LADA Langkawi Geopark and Persatuan Olahraga Amatur Kedah (POAK).
